Greece Joins the Visa Waiver Program
Greek citizens to travel to the United States without the need for a visa starting April 10, 2010
Secretary Janet Napolitano, the head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), recently announced that Greece will be added to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). This will allow Greek citizens to travel to the United States without the need for a visa starting April 10, 2010. Greek nationals will be allowed to visit the U.S. for up to 90 days for the purpose of tourism or business without a visa as long as they have an e-passport and authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). ESTA is an automated free service which pre-screens travelers seeking to enter the U.S. for security purposes.
